Uncommon Wisdom: Vihra Shopova

“Uncommon Wisdom” is about sharing those habits or stories that we wouldn’t normally think to share. There’s so much talk about morning routines and self-care practices these days but a lot of it can seem kind of superficial or maybe just predictable and repetitive.

This is why we asked a bunch of high-performing creatives and entrepreneurs a few questions about awareness, energy, and productivity. We wanted to learn something a bit more unexpected, and here’s what we found out.

Who is Vihra Shopova?

Vihra Shopova is a Life Design Coach and Movement Artist currently based in Sofia, Bulgaria. She helps people find and live their most authentic self through coaching, playful workshops, and dance.

If you ask her LinkedIn you’ll see that she has lived in Berlin for 5 years and has studied Media and Communications. She has worked at a coworking space rocking their Marketing team and she also certified as a Design Thinking coach in 2019. If you check her Instagram you’ll get a mix of dancing, mental health tips, van life, surfing, and skating.

But if you ask her, she will tell you that she loves to write, dance, and have deep conversations with friends. She also loves to sit in the right front seat of a car while traveling somewhere. She loves surfing, snowboarding, and going on little nature escapes. Vihra says she loves feeling the wind in her hair. She shares that she feels like all this is so much more important than what her LinkedIn will show you.

If you ask Astrology, moreover, she’s a Pisces with Sagittarius rising and her psychological profile is ENTF.

Since being a kid, Vihra has had many different interests and was always struggling to understand “what she wants to be when she grows up”. But then she realised you don’t have to be just one thing when you grow up and if you have the courage to pursue it, you can shape your own life just the way you want it. Everyone has their own definition of success.

#1. What's something unexpected or uncommon that made you more aware?

Following my intuition and disconnecting from the SHOULDs I felt that society and family expected of me. It was the moments when I jumped into the unknown just hoping that everything would somehow turn out alright. And it somehow always did.

#2. What's something unexpected or uncommon that gives you energy?

Raw, deep conversations with friends and seeing people living their absolute truth. Being honest and authentic. Seeing people speaking their mind and standing for their values.

#3. What's something unexpected or uncommon that makes you more productive?

The vision of where I could be in a year from now and working towards these goals.

#4. What does your morning ritual look like?

For a long time I used to have a very strict morning routine which included breath work, yoga, meditation, dancing, and journaling. However, with time I realised that you don’t always have 2 hours in the morning to do your routine and it doesn’t have to take so much time. It should first of all be something you enjoy and have fun doing.

So now every morning I listen to my body and do maybe one of those things.

I also live a more nomadic lifestyle and don’t always have one particular spot for my morning routine. Here’s how I tackle that:
  • I always brush my teeth next to a window, on the balcony or in nature, while I’m looking at the sun and taking a minute to practice gratitude.
  • I set intentions when making my coffee and breakfast as I’m thinking about what I want to invite in my day or week and what I wish to happen.
  • Whenever I feel low I put on some music and dance to it. Like silly-dance to it. Letting everything out.

#5. What does your evening ritual look like?

There’s nothing strict about my evening routine, but unlike many people my age I try to be in bed before 11pm, so I can rest properly. And one thing I always do before falling asleep is to count 5 things I’m grateful for or happy about from the past day.

My partner and I both have busy schedules sometimes, so in these cases our “evening routine” is just making a huge salad bowl and spending time together talking, dreaming, and cuddling.
